| Recycle Round-Up Our “Recycle Your Videotapes” campaign has been a huge success. To date we have collected about 6,000 tapes. That’s 2 tons of videotapes! During the month of April we were all over the 14 towns we serve with our mobile production truck, spreading the good news about CommuniTyVision 21 and our recycling campaign. There was great cooperation from towns and civic organizations including recycling centers in New Milford, New Fairfield and Kent, the Roxbury First Selectwoman, Southbury Library, the Woodbury Conservation Committee and Trumbull Rotary. You may have seen one of the 30 second spots that the staff produced to promote our green campaign. These were truly collaborative efforts that included Kris’ acting talents, Dave’s directing, Mark’s set decorating, Greg’s special effects and my forehead. We also produced a 4 minute filler piece that explains what happens to the tapes. (They are bulk erased, broken down and recycled into new products). It is an interesting piece that we had great fun making. And there is a point to remember – making shows can be lots of fun. What better reason to stay active with CTV-21 could there be? Our summer internship will begin with an orientation in Late June. If you know anyone that may be interested, please encourage them to participate. They can call us or visit our website for more information and an application. Kent Film Festival Final Speaking of participating in fun shoots, many interns took a ride up to join the staff at the Kent Film Festival on the last weekend in April. Charter Communications was a sponsor of the event showcasing amateur and professional filmmakers. We had several past interns enter the festival including intern graduate, Si Melzer with his taping of legendary independent filmmaker, Roger Corman. There were films, educational workshops and festivities abounding. We captured some great interviews with moviemakers and festival attendees. These are featured on the “Kent Film Festival” episode of In Your Community featuring host extraordinaire, (and intern!) John Hatch. Watch for repeat cablecasts of this IYC airing Sundays at 4:30pm and Tuesdays at 8:30pm. Also, look for a retrospective of 2007 Kent Film Festival entries on CTV-21 later this year. We hope to have the pleasure of working with the Kent Film Festival director, Frank Galterio, again next year. The film festival was a unique and interesting event to cover. New E-mail Addresses We are pleased to announce four new e-mail addresses. General inquiries can be directed to ctv21@chartercom.com. Comments and suggestions for our public affairs programs “In Your Community” and “Local Edition” can be sent to iyc@chartercom.com and localedition@chartercom.com . We also have an email for our campaign, which is recycletapes@chartercom.com. |
