Did you know that videotapes are recyclable? Charter Communications CommuniTyVision 21 would like to help you do your part to help clean up the environment by recycling your old and unwanted videotapes.

Now that the digital age has arrived and most households have at least one DVD player, we’ve realized that many homes as well as schools, libraries, and churches have a number of videotapes collecting dust in garages, basements, and attics.

Rather than dump these non-biodegradable items into landfills, Charter Communications will provide a free and ecological way to relieve you of this clutter. Working with “GreenDisk”, an environmentally conscious company that specializes in the collection and recycling of tape media, tapes will be bulk erased disassembled and converted into raw material to be used in the manufacture of new consumer products.

Throughout the month of April, Charter Communications will be accepting ALL videotapes in ANY condition and ANY format (VHS, S-VHS, VHS-c, 8mm, Hi-8mm, U-matic, even Betamax!) at the Community Access Studio located at 11 Commerce Rd in Newtown, just off I-84 Exit 10.

We will also be working with local towns within Charter’s 14-town Western Connecticut service area to establish drop-off locations. For example, residents will be able to stop by designated drop-off points and save themselves a trip.
